Audio Design
The Audio Design for this project consisted in the creation of:
SFX through the use of different recordings made by me of foley, as well as samples from different libraries.
VOX, were I managed and recorded voice lines with another voice actor.
Ambience, where I used samples from different libraries.
Game Design
Regarding the Game Design, I was responsible for:
Level Design - I spread out the different items in the game, from clues to all the quirky rats!
The Card Game - A single-player adaption of the popular card game Gin Rummy, with a new point-system.
Gimmicks - Different mechanics which change the way that the card game plays out, such as:
The Multiplier - Increases the points you can get depending on the card you discard.
The Confession Meter - Increases the points necessary to win depending on the card you discard.
The Timer - Gives the player a limited amount of time to play their cards!
The Clue System - Consists on different clues spread out throughout the bar. These clues are interactable and are used as plot hooks to further the narrative.
The Interrogation System - Find discrepancies in the rat's statements. Use the information and clues you have gathered to squeeze out the truth!
Narrative
Regarding the Writing, I was responsible for:
Worldbuilding - Creating the world of the post-apocalyptic rat society where the Detective resides.
Story - The story of the missing Madame, how the events came to fruition and the motives for this heinous crime were written with the sole purpose of being bizarre and funny.
Characters - Writing all of the characters and their respective relationships with each other. From lovers, enemies, acquaintances and business partners, all the rats know and interact with one another.
Dialogue - All of the dialogue was written with the goal of portraying the different personalities of each rat, all the while maintaining a comedic mood throughout the game.
